UVT possesses a hosting park for servers comprising the University websites, the platforms for distant learning, the pedagogic resources, the web applications etc…
The UVT network is secure against the threats of an internal and external origin.UVT has equipped itself with a complete security solution based on Firewalls(redundant firewalls, network probes, antivirus filters etc…)
This security solution is completed by other functions distributed over the equipments of the whole network. The juxtaposition of the whole set of these products allows to establish a set of laws, regulations and mechanisms capable of managing, protecting and optimizing the resources available within the University.
UVT intends to reinforce and to structure its accommodation park. Thus, it plansto acquire other servers as well as new stocking space and restoring solutions in addition to the increase of the bandwidth and the installation of new architectures etc…
Videoconferencingis a service which ensures, in real time, the bi-directional transfer of the sound and the animated image in color, thus allowing a group of users to discuss while being at two or more distinct locations.UVT has just acquired new video-conferencing systems for that purpose. Among other things, it hasequipped 14 other institutions of higher learning with this system.
This system includes a codec with a mobile camera and an audio-phonic system linked to a television set. UVT’s codec has the advantage of allowing the simultaneous management of several sites: it is a multipoint codec.
UVT has at its disposala central digitizing laboratory for and course preparation.The technicians of this lab have for mission to assist the educators to mediatize their courses.
14 laboratories for digital productionare active in several university institutions and they operate in close collaboration with the team of UVT’s central laboratory.
To access information on-line, UVT provides the students and teachers with access centers open within the establishments of higher learning.
These centers make itpossible for students to access the courses on-linewhile providing them with premises for meetings or courses they attend in person.
Each center is equipped with a computer park composed of20 computers(operating on Windows or Linux),two mini-servers (Linux), a cable network, air-conditioning as well as the necessary office equipments etc…
Since 2004, UVT has opened 132 access centerswhich have been perfectly functional. These access centers which are equipped and have an Internet connection, are distributed over several Tunisian university institutions.Any teacher or student enrolled in one of these institutions may have access free of charge.
1800 courses of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have been made available for the VUT. A mirror site grouping all of these courses is housed by the VUT following the signing of a convention by the two institutions.
